Support for students in recovery from alcohol, drug use and other addictions.

What is Recovery?

Recovery is often used in reference to being in recovery of addiction to substances or activities. Everyone's journey to recovery is unique.

SAMHSA's definition of recovery from mental and/or substance use disorders is a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.

UCR Recovery & Sobriety Meetings

On-Campus Court-approved Meetings

Winter Quarter 2024

Underground Scholars is now offering recovery meetings for all UCR students, staff and faculty. Recovery meetings are a safe space for anyone who is struggling with addiction or is impacted by it in their life. We recognize that substance use disproportionally affects those apart of marginalized communities- such as student parents, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those who were formerly incarcerated. We want to offer a space that is welcoming for people across all identities to start taking steps toward a solution. The meeting structure borrows from AA, NA and CMA literature, and all meetings are court-approved. Allies welcome!

For questions about these meetings contact Underground Scholars Director Ismael Davila ismael.davila@ucr.edu
